Glengallan is not just any old house. Uninhabited for more
than half its lifetime, it remains frozen in time. Located
near Warwick in South East Queensland, Glengallan is one of
the few remaining examples of a substantial 19th century country
house in Queensland.

Glengallan today is a tribute not only to its visionary builder
and to 19th Century craftsmen but also to the 21st Century
team that brought it back to life through this delicately
balanced restoration that enables the visitor to experience
the best and the worst of its times.
Eliza's opens at Glengallan
The lady of the house would be pleasantly
surprised to know the modern-day equivalent of the Glengallan
kitchen is being named after her. Eliza's at Glengallan honours
Eliza Charlotte Deuchar, wife of John Deuchar who built the
sandstone mansion in 1867.
With a change of management at Glengallan Heritage Centre,
the Trust has moved quickly to revamp the coffee shop which
is now open on Saturdays and Sundays 10am to 4pm and for mid-week
group tours and functions by arrangement.
The new menu includes traditional fare such as Devonshire
tea, damper with golden syrup, lamb shanks and shepherd's
pie as well as popular coffee shop lines lasagne and quiche.
Eliza Deuchar already has a wine named after her, the Chardonnay
Verdelho "Eliza D" from the range of Glengallan
labels marketed through the cellar door partnership with Hidden
Creek Wines of Ballandean.
Location
Glengallan Homestead and Heritage Centre is on the New England
Highway, 18.515km north of Warwick. For directions, please
see the map.
