About Warwick

Situated 80km south-west of Toowoomba and 170km south-west of Brisbane, Warwick Shire is the perfect destination for a day in the country. The first pastoral settlement in Queensland, Warwick boasts some of Queensland's finest historical sandstone buildings as well as stunning natural attractions and national horse events including the famous Warwick Rodeo.

Warwick also has an interesting history. In 1917 the town became famous when a scallywag local hit visiting Prime Minister Billy Hughes with a rotten egg! The egg-throwing incident directly led to the formation of the Federal Police Force. To learn more on the history of Warwick, visit www.walkabout.com.au/locations/QLDWarwick.shtml.
